Programme Manager - Release Train Engineer
Summary:
- An experienced Programme manager/RTE to plan, monitor and control the work of distributed onshore and offshore teams, to deliver IT solutions to the Business Client Insurance Business.
- Execution and delivery of change on large transformation projects/Programmes that are aligned with global/regional and in-country strategies.
- Responsible for Programme/Release train delivery from inception to completion with the appropriate corporate governance and methodologies in place.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders, scrum masters, technical leads and work-stream leaders alike.
- Supports leadership by providing timely reporting and insight into Programme issues and developments.
Responsibilities
- Manages and coordinates 3 or more delivery teams in order optimise portfolio delivery.
- Identifies and manages inter-dependencies across Programme/Release train.
- Oversees management of risks, issues, and changes to projects within their Projects.
- Summarise Team PI Objectives into Programme PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency.
- Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities (SAFe requirements model).
- Maintains a framework and methodology for Project management.
- Regularly reviews, reallocates, and checks priorities within the Programme/Release train to align with organisational goals and direction.
- Monitors status on infrastructure and systems which support Programme deliverable
- Ensures SDLC compliance is met across assigned delivery teams.
- Provides timely assessment and communication of Programme prioritisation and performance to key stakeholders.
- Provides Programme performance metrics to the organisation through key performance indicators, as designated
- Participates in frequent Programme and individual delivery team reviews to reflect senior level support, leadership, and involvement.
- Support teams in problem identification and decision-making, and escalates and track impediments that cannot be handled at the team level.
- Manages budget for own area
Required Skills
- 10+ years delivering complex technology projects and services in a high growth/high velocity environment.
- Minimum 5+ years experience directly the in project manager/scrum master role (i.e. hands on PM/SM experience prior to Programme manager experience), working within a geographically distributed, and highly matrixed environment.
- Minimum 5+ years experience directly the in Programme manager/RTE master role.
- Hands-on experience directly managing team resources.
- Sensitive to the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development Programme.
- Successfully led Programmes in complex and challenging conditions.
- B.S. in Computer Science, related field, or combined equivalent experience.
- Solid understanding of the SDLC.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management, planning, and organising skills.
- Agile Delivery experience required.
- Scaled Agile (SAFe) experience desired
- Insurance industry experience an advantage
