The Role:
As an Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of integrating and optimizing automation systems. If you have a relevant engineering degree and excel in automation, we want to hear from you! Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer requirements to identify project automation needs.
  • Differentiate between project-specific or new requirements and standard solutions.
  • Manage and fulfill automation requirements.
  • Maintain and update project schedules to ensure timely delivery.
  • Document automation functions and present them to customers.
  • Design crane automation support systems (e.g., fibre and copper network infrastructure, PLC bus systems like Profinet, CANbus, Modbus, Interbus).
  • Integrate automation subsystems and solutions to ensure overall automation functionality.
  • Ensure electrical design engineers are informed of electrical requirements, and prepare interface drawings if necessary.
  • Collaborate with software developers to document and build software interface modules.
  • Verify implementation of crane monitoring requirements for automation systems.
  • Support commissioning engineers with necessary documentation during the commissioning process.
  • Coordinate with production and installation departments to ensure automation systems are assembled and tested to standards.
  • Provide training and support to service department personnel on new systems.
  • Participate in the selection and testing of new subsystems and technologies.
  • Prepare and execute on-site tests at customer ports as needed.
  • Create BOMs for automation equipment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Level 7 degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident in challenging the status quo and open to new technologies.
  • Programming experience with Safety and Non-safety PLC systems using Codesys.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems development.
  • Understanding of PLC control safety compliance and performance levels (PLr / SIL).
  • Familiarity with Zuken E3 or similar drawing packages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage project requirements and schedules.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ABB PLCs is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work in heavy machinery environments and assist with crane commissioning.
  • Willing to travel internationally as required.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • German language skills are a plus, as you may work with German-speaking colleagues.
