Job Description

SK biotek is seeking to recruit a Shift Engineer to support its Operations. The Shift Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support to the assigned shift to ensure safety, compliance and throughput goals are met and that troubleshooting of process and plant related issues are completed in real time.

Reporting to the Shift Manager, key responsibilities of the Shift Engineer include:

  • Providing day to day technical support and troubleshooting capability to assigned shift
  • Drive plant set up and changeover activities, including the execution of changeover plans
  • Attend campaign review meetings and support the Process Group in real time monitoring of campaign data and campaign preparation
  • Provide technical training to assigned shift and provide Automation and IT support to the shift out of hours
  • Supporting technical transfer activities
  • Report and investigate batch deviations or quality issues on the shift
  • Provide out of hours plant support e.g. printing documentation, raises change controls and emergency change controls
  • Report and investigate safety or environmental incidents on the shift
  • Prepare and review GMP documentation
  • Act as authorizer for the Permit to Work and LOTO systems in manufacturing during normal day shifts and in all areas across site in the 'out of hours'
  • Own and drive OPEX activities on the shift, including coaching and mentoring shift colleagues on OPEX tools and support OPEX training and projects
  • Provide assistance and/or support to Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Technical Services or other colleagues as required

Requirements & Experience

  • Suitable candidates should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in the bulk pharmaceutical industry in a direct manufacturing support role e.g. Plant Engineer role or equivalent, and be qualified to degree level chemical engineering or science subject with relevant experience.
  • An in-depth knowledge of relevant cGMP, safety and environmental regulations is required. Suitable candidates should hold an OPEX/Lean six sigma yellow belt qualification or equivalent. Experience in managing teams at an operational level would be an advantage. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work on their own initiative.
