Reliability and OPEX Lead

We are currently recruiting for a Reliability and Opex lead to join the Maintenance team at a north Dublin site in a permanent role. The RX Lead will act as the site lead in the implementation and delivery of the Reliability Excellence Program through the use of matrix management and standardised governance processes within the site.
By using and promoting the use of Lean Six Sigma methodology and change management, the candidate will be responsible for driving the development of OPEX capability and culture within the Maintenance team so that the goals of the department are achieved.


  • Demonstrate tangible leadership and relationship management skills both across SK biotek and externally
  • Determine equipment to be monitored onsite and establish the reliability program through best practice reliability tools, technologies and strategies
  • Implement the use of asset criticality ranking and development of optimised maintenance strategies for all assets, based on their respective ratings
  • Manage the implementation of a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategy onsite through the use of failure mode effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) assessments in conjunction with System Owners, Maintenance Operations and Manufacturing Operations
  • Review and evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of current PM and PdM activities based on FMECA analysis and RCA of asset reliability events
  • Work closely with Planning and Scheduling to schedule and oversee job assignments and lead PdM contract technicians from a technical perspective
  • Develop and manage reliability focused asset management KPIs that support the Reliability program and related projects and are also appropriate to support site strategy
  • Support the creation and modification of documentation to support maintenance and calibration activities (Maximo Job Plans, Data Sheets, Work Instructions etc.)
  • Collaborate with Capital Projects to ensure that new designs and modifications incorporating reliability, maintainability, operability and life cycle costing reviews
  • Develop and manage a standard approach onsite to problem solving and root cause of reliability related equipment issues to ensure cost effective operations and maintenance of assets onsite
  • Drive cross-functional activities and initiatives that ensure widespread engagement and support for reliability centered practices onsite
  • Develop new systems, practices, policies and procedures as required pertaining to maintenance and operations activities to enhance the performance of the business and establish a continuously improving philosophy in reliability
  • Ensure compliance to all regulatory, GMP, safety and environmental requirements
  • Support compliance efforts related to Quality Events, CAPA, change management and contamination investigations.
  • Provide input for departmental budget by allocating expenses bases on site strategies and business unit's priorities, while assuring compliance with SOX requirements and guarding against budget over runs.

Drive engagement with Operational Excellence with Maintenance through:

  • Supporting Yellow / Green / Lean projects and associated training
  • Coordination and tracking of overall OpEx activities within Maintenance
  • Supporting development of visual performance management
  • Leading improvement initiatives to embed systems and tools to deliver business benefits
  • Coaching of project leads on implementation of excellence systems and tools
  • Communication, information management and promotion of OpEx benefits via OpEx Boards, RHAIC boards, coaching etc.
  • Leading and coaching of workshops
  • Leading and coordination of OpEx initiatives to drive OpEx into BAU


  • Monitor activities to ensure GMP regulations, site or corporate quality standards and any additional regulatory requirements are maintained
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed in an accurate, truthful and timely manner.

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to provide vision and leadership to direct and develop Reliability Excellence that result in continuous improvement and reduction in costs
  • Strong leader with a management style that exhibits high energy, collaboration, openness, results orientation and an ability to manage ad resolve issues
  • Development of executive level presentations
  • Ability to achieve goals and interact successfully with a new and changing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP, quality regulations and guidelines that support the pharmaceutical business
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance issues in a bulk manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrates a commitment to goals, a 'can-do' approach to problems and is persistent in the face of adversity
  • Strong inter-personal and team-building skills

Required Qualifications / Experience:

  • A primary degree in a technical or business discipline and at least 10 years' experience in the Pharmaceutical or equivalent heavily regulated business with proven experience in managing a range of operations and proven people management skills
  • The ideal candidate will have experience managing Reliability Centered Maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to manage across functional lines and deliver results in a matrix organisation
  • In depth knowledge of modern reliability practices
  • Ideally CMRP certified
