PMO Lead

Project Management Office (PMO) Lead required to join a leading pharmaceutical company based in Cork. This role is responsible for establishing and providing leadership to a team of individuals that will be assigned to project manage a wide and diverse portfolio of projects across the site.


  • Provide leadership in a collaborative and coaching fashion to the PM team.
  • DevelopaPMO on-site including but not limited to:
    • Mission, vision, objectives
    • Development plan
    • Team structure and job descriptions
    • Policies & procedures, standards, framework
    • Project management tools & practices
    • Software engineering tools and technologies
    • Templates
  • Work with project sponsors at initiation to ensure the scope is fully defined and understood.
  • Coach and train all site personnel on the roles and responsibilities of all those involved in project execution.
  • Establish robust processes for all projects with stage gates (i.e. project types - expense, tech transfer, CI etc.)
  • Establish, own and update the PM standard. Ensure alignment where appropriate with the company global PM guidelines and also benchmark against global best practices across all industries. PM standard must be lean and efficient but ensuring that it is fit for purpose.
  • Ensure that the site portfolio of projects are delivered as per Scope, Budget and Schedule
  • Establish a prioritization process to ensure the correct projects are being delivered.
  • Develop and manage department and projects budget
  • Ensure that the headcount within the team is aligned to deliver the site requirements. Maintain an active and up to date resource plan for all projects that can be rolled up to view the level of activity and resources supporting site projects.
  • Manage department and projects communication processes to ensure that all processes are applied and followed
  • Generate and present to the site leadership PMO statistics and how the site portfolio is performing.
  • Issue monthly comms to site on portfolio performance.
  • Any other duties assigned.
  • Continuous Improvements: Use Lean principles to deliver a cost efficient operating model for commercial production while not compromising EHS and Quality standards.
  • Coaching and Training: Coaching others by sharing your skill-set and expertise. Identifying talent and coaching and nurturing them to develop and perform at their maximum potential.


  • Appropriate 3rd level Hons Degree Qualification.
  • Desirable: evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Lead six sigma experience is essential, minimum yellow belt, preferable green belt
  • Accredited Project management qualification by the Project Management Institute or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in project delivery of a broad spectrum of projects.
  • Experience managing sterile or Biologics projects and advantage.
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying Lean Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a continuous improvement focus.
  • Proven Track record of delivering on commitments.
  • Successfully have lead 'change' initiatives on-site.
