Our client, SK biotek Ireland, are seeking to recruit an Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Specialist to join the Maintenance Department based in Swords, Co. Dublin.

The key responsibilities of the role include planning, coordination, scheduling and execution of Maintenance activities along with support of assigned projects within the Maintenance group.

In addition the Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for the provision of technical support to the Maintenance teams on site along with participation and providing technical support and expertise for departmental teams, cross functional teams and company initiatives including electrical legislative requirements and standards.

The Maintenance Specialist will act as a key technical person responsible for resolution of repetitive failures and long term issues and to define the reliability strategy relating to their area of expertise. The role will assist with the identification of engineering solutions that will improve operational reliability of production processes and assisting the Maintenance Team in their implementation.

The role will also involve;

  • Full knowledge and utilisation of all functionality relating to Maximo CMMS
  • Implementing and promoting the use of RCM principles across the maintenance group including FMEA, PDM, LCCA & RCA
  • Providing detailed written reports/metrics on a monthly basis, as required.
  • Ensuring electrical programs of work are designed, implemented and executed to the required legislative and corporate standards including ATEX, Continuity testing, Interlock testing, PAT etc.
  • Managing a range of service contracts set up to support the maintenance and calibration of site-wide equipment, both electrical and mechanical
  • Reviewing and approving work orders, calibration and test certificates, resolving any issues arising, in order to ensure GMP and EHS compliance
  • Assisting in the investigation and resolution of electrical and mechanical issues on process equipment
  • Optimising and developing the spare parts and MRO inventory holding of electrical spares
  • Ensure that maintenance routines, calibration procedures, and work plans are developed to the necessary standards for best practice and ensure compliance with GMP and EHS regulations


  • The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in continuous improvement projects, understanding, knowledge and experience of maintenance and display developed trouble shooting abilities.
  • A good knowledge of electrical systems coupled with proven experience in driving equipment reliability programs is required in addition to a working knowledge of CMMS, Microsoft Office and MS Project programmes.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills are required for this role in addition to strong attention to detail capability and the ability to consistently meet deadlines.


An Electrical or Instrumentation Trades qualified / Engineering Degree with a minimum of seven years' experience in a maintenance and/or engineering role is required preferably in the pharmaceutical or related industry.
